About Caterham

The Surrey town of Caterham is a popular commuter town offering good motorway access and direct rail links to London. A settlement is thought to have existed here for nearly a thousand years and the town's oldest building, the St Lawrence Church, is of Norman construction.

In case you're wondering, Caterham was until recently also the original home of Caterham Cars, the makers of the iconic Seven two-seater sports car originally designed by Lotus founder Colin Chapman. Caterham isn't based at Caterham these days, but at nearby Crawley, in Sussex. The firm's factory is now in Dartford, in Kent.

The town's economy largely revolves around the need of its residents, so there's a strong bias towards service sector businesses such as retail and cafes. However, with a population of more than 20,000, Caterham does benefit from having its own local van hire facilities. Expect a fairly typical range of vans to be available to rent:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
