About Lincoln
Cathedral city and county town - Lincoln is a major urban centre in the east of England. It is also one of the oldest - having been settled on and off ever since the Romans conquered this area in AD48.
Today, Lincoln is less industrial and more commercial than it used to be, with a range of new companies having chosen the city as their base. Tourism and agriculture also play a major role. Attractions for visitors to the town include Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Castle (home to one of four remaining copies of the Magna Carta) and the Medieval Bishop's Palace. More light-hearted attractions are available, too - such as a cruise on the oldest Roman canal in the country or a trip to the Engine Shed, the region's largest music venue.
