About Maidenhead

Maidenhead is a town to the west of Reading. Its history stretches back to pre-Roman times but much of its original growth was the result of the town's location on both the River Thames and the Bath Road between London and Bath - now known as the A4 and still a busy road.

For many years, Maidenhead had a somewhat racy reputation as a place where upper class Londoners might go to relax by the river - along with nearby Bray and Cookham, the town is blessed with its location by particularly scenic sections of this great river.

Today, Maidenhead is home to approximately 60,000 people and is a popular place to live for people working in Reading and London - London Paddington is only half an hour away on the train, and Reading even closer.

The town itself has attracted a number of technology companies and such high-tech employment is important in the area, as it is in neighbouring Reading. Van hire is readily available in Maidenhead and most types of rental van should be on offer:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
