The town of Yeovil is in Somerset, in the south west of England. Home to more than 41,000 people, Yeovil is more than 1,000 years old.
Yeovil is a medieval market town in South Somerset. The town was first mentioned in 880 and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. By the early 20th century, Yeovil had become an important base for the UK's defence industry – a role which continues today. Although at first glance Yeovil's location seems quite rural, it is actually less than an hour's drive from Bristol and less than 20 miles from the M5 motorway. Yeovil is also close to Taunton and Bridgwater.
Visitors to the area can enjoy a number of attractions, including the Fleet Air Arm Museum, which has Europe's largest collection of naval aircraft and is also home to a Concorde aircraft. Other attractions include wooded Yeovil Country Park, the Barwick Park follies and the Yeovil Railway Centre.
