After surprisingly slow growth in October, new van registrations rose by 9.6% to 29,051 in November, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
The increase takes this year’s total to 341,420 new vans, 15.7% more than during the first eleven months of 2014.

Commenting on the figures, Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive, said:
“The commercial vehicle market continues to demonstrate phenomenal progress, with sustained growth over a number of years as ever-more confident businesses invest in their fleets.
Here’s how the progress of the last six years looks on a graph (the dark blue line represents vans):
As usual, the biggest growth was in the 2.5-3.5t category, where sales rose by 19.1% to 19,150 units — 66% of all vans registered in November.
All of these new van sales are good news for van dealers and also, by implication, for the UK economy. Now let’s see what next year brings.
