You can now hire vans by the hour at B&Q stores across the UK. According to the Hertz website (as of 31 January 2018) vehicles cost from £15 per hour to rent with mileage from 30p per mile.
The van rental scheme is operated as part of the Hertz 24/7 scheme, a global car sharing scheme run by rental giant Hertz.
To use one of the B&Q rental vans, you need to be a member of the Hertz 24/7 scheme. This will enable you to book rentals online, by telephone or through the app. You’ll get an access code for your vehicle a few minutes before your hire is due to start and can unlock the using the pin pad or by swiping your Hertz key fob.
Each van comes with a fuel card and fuel costs are included within the rental charges, although there is a mileage charge. You use the fuel card if you need to fill the tank and are automatically billed for mileage.
As far as I can tell, you do not have to be a B&Q customer to use the hire vans kept at B&Q stores. You just need Hertz 24/7 membership.
