We’ve recently added two van hire suppliers in Staines-upon-Thames to the vanrental.co.uk search engine, in our continuing effort to improve our price comparison results.

Staines (as it’s more commonly known) is a town in Surrey that lies on the River Thames, It’s lies alongside the M25, midway between the Slough junction with the M4 and the Chertsey junction with the M3. It’s a busy area for traffic, not least because it’s also just 3 miles from Heathrow Airport.

At the time of writing (Jan 2018), we’re listing two van hire suppliers in Staines, Avis and Budget. Both companies normally offer a good selection of popular van sizes and Budget also offers one-way hire, which can be very useful.

Staines-upon-Thames itself is a picturesque town by the River Thames with a generous helping of historic buildings. Home to around 18,000 people, it incorporates the villages of Laleham, Stanwell and Wraysbury and runs almost continuously into Egham.

Here at vanrental.co.uk we’re always trying to improve our coverage of van hire suppliers across the UK (and Ireland!).

One of the newest locations on our price comparison engine is West Midlands exhibition venue, the Birmingham NEC. At the time of writing (Jan 2018) both Budget and Avis operate van hire branches on the NEC estate.

The NEC is easily accessible by rail and air, as well as by road. This means that NEC visitors who find expect to take large items home from an exhibition could choose to arrive by rail (Birmingham International) or air (nearby Birmingham Airport) and then hire a van with a one-way booking to return to home.

Alternatively if you need to make a delivery to the NEC, you could choose this option too and then drop off your van and get a train or plane home.

One-way van hire is usually available from Budget, so this could be an ideal option in some scenarios.

I’m pleased to say that we’ve recently added in new van hire suppliers providing coverage in Hampton, London.

This West London suburb forms part of the Borough of Richmond upon Thames, but it’s best known as the location of Hampton Court Palace and its legendary maze. Hampton itself is midway between Sunbury and Kingston, on the A308. It’s around 15 miles from central London by road or rail, making it a popular area with commuters.

At the time of writing (Jan 2018), we have one van hire supplier listed in Hampton, Budget. This popular firm has a network of van hire branches across the UK (here’s a list) and normally offers a good selection of popular van sizes at its branches. These typically include small and medium vans.

I’m pleased to report that vanrental.co.uk now offers van hire coverage in Chipping Sodbury.

This South Gloucestershire town can trace its history back to the 12th century, making it one of the older settlements in the area. But despite an appealing rural location and village feel, ti’s actually fairly close to Bristol, and neighbouring Yate offers a direct rail service to the south-western city.

At the time of writing (Jan 2018) we have just one van hire supplier in Chipping Sodbury, Enterprise. This well-known global firm has a comprehensive branch network around the UK (here’s a list) and normally provides a good choice of nearly-new vans in popular sizes, including medium, long and extra-long panel vans.

The Wirral town of Heswall is the latest location to be added to our growing database of UK van and minibus hire locations . We now have more than 560 locations, many with multiple hire companies that you can compare through our independent price comparison system.

Heswall is a smallish town but it’s only around 20 minutes’ drive to Chester and Liverpool. It’s a popular place to live on Merseyside, with a population of more than 12,000, including nearby Gayton and Barnston.

At the time of writing (Jan 2018) we only have one van hire supplier in Heswall, which is Enterprise. This well-known hire group always offers a decent range of modern vans. Sizes range from small to extra long — and Enterprise also offers luton vans for DIY house removals or heavy objects requiring a tail lift.

The Cambridgeshire village of Histon is one of the latest locations to be added to vanrental.co.uk’s ever-expanding price comparison system. We now cover 569 locations in the UK and Ireland, many of which have a number of competing van hire suppliers for you to choose from.

Histon is actually paired up with the adjoining village of Impington. The two together form a large, rural residential area with a population of around 11,000. Histon is only about 5 miles from Cambridge, so is a popular place to live. But such a large population means that local van hire is also in demand.

At the time of writing (Jan 2018) we only have one van hire supplier in Histon, Enterprise. This well-known hire company offers some of the best coverage of the UK (here’s a list of Enterprise locations) and always offers a decent selection of standard van sizes.

Among the most popular are medium and long-wheelbase panel vans, which are favourites for tradesmen, couriers and even small house moves (although a luton is usually better for this). Extra-long vans are also ideal for larger items of furniture or DIY items such as flat pack kits and lengths of timber that simply won’t fit into a car.

Here at vanrental.co.uk we’re always trying to improve our coverage of van hire suppliers across the UK (and Ireland!).

Europcar van hire

I’m very pleased to announce that our independent price comparison service has now been extended into Ireland.

We can now provide prices for Europcar vans, cars and minibuses in 17 popular locations in Ireland:

We’re working on adding coverage for other major hire companies in these towns and cities and elsewhere in Ireland. I hope you find this a useful addition to our services.

While we’re not planning to ‘go global’, we feel that extending the UK-focused vanrental.co.uk service to include our nearest neighbours makes good sense and should be a useful upgrade to the service we offer.
